I have the same problem (VS2010).

Sometimes it replaces the string if there is no using for the properties.

using OrderManager.Properties;

But it doesn't if I have a using directive.

First: Sorry for my bad english, but I'm just 14.

My Problem: The tool does not replace the string with a call to the resource file. The preview dialog has also not a modify code (http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/39ae29d3-81e1-43d4-9c48-fc9644869d84/showImage/9208 I mean the yellow and red there).

My System: Windows 7 x64 Ultimate / Visual Studio 2010 Express (C#)

Hope anyone has a solution.

I cannot install the tool. During installation it gives me an error "ResourceRefactor requires .NET Framework 4.0 full, which is not present on the computer...". But I am pretty sure I have it installed.

My solution was to uninstall the addin, clean the registry, restart and then reinstall. Everything is working as expected now.

I tried this method with Windows XP and VS 2010 and it does not solve my issue. Any other ideas? I am using a C# project.

I am trying to externalize some strings in my cs files but when I right-click, select Refactor I do not see "Extract to Resource". Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas of a way to make it appear?

Currently if i have shared assembly which is added as a reference to my project...Then when i refactor to resource it doesn't pickup this resx from the referenced assembly.

Also it would be nice to change the combo box that lists the resx files to include the path / assembly etc

Just my 2 cents

Oh i forgot to mention exactly what :-) heres some more info.

In the form that it doesn't work correctly it actually inserts the Resource into the resource file BUT fails to change the string to a call to the resource file.

Hi there,

just downloaded your extension for vs 2010.... IT was working great!

I presume this project is still being developed, as i saw a similar msg ( http://resourcerefactoring.codeplex.com/discussions/242056 ) that has not had any replies...

I think my issue is the same, i just downloaded the extension today 09 March 2011.

Now the strange thing is, in 1 windows form it works perfect but in another it doesn't... I can send you the form if you like for testing..

Or maybe you can put an option of a log in there.... as something seems to be wrong..

Great extension by the way!

Hi,

Extract to Resource doesn't seem to work for me on Visual Studio 2010.

Scenario : I select a string in code, then Refactor => Extract to Resource. I choose an existing .resx file and enter the name of the resource, then click OK.

- When Preview is checked, a preview window is displayed, but all lines have the same number starting from a certain point, and preview reflects no changes in source file.

- When I proceed with the refactoring, a corresponding entry is added to the chosen .resx file but not to matching .Designer.cs file, which prevents from referencing the resource in code.

- The string to refactor is not replaced with a call to the resource (e.g. Properties.Resources.XYZ)

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 10.0.30319.1, Windows 7 64 bits, Vault source control (all necessary files in a checked out state)

Glad to read that you'll be continuing to work on RRT... it's a great tool! Hopefully the new version will continue to support 2008, as we haven't upgraded to 2010 yet. Also hoping you'll address the issue here, as it's kept me from using RRT for some time now : (
